Design + Construction

1. Planning & Design

• Initial Consultation: A pool consultant meets with you to discuss your vision, budget, and specific requirements.

• Site Assessment: The contractor inspects your property to evaluate the best location, soil type, grading, and applicable zoning regulations.

• Pool Design: A custom design is developed, specifying the pool’s shape, size, depth, and optional features such as spas, waterfalls, lighting, and decking.

2. Site Preparation & Excavation

• Permits & Approvals: Necessary permits are secured to comply with local building codes and safety regulations.

• Marking & Layout: The approved pool design is marked on the ground to guide excavation.

• Excavation: Heavy machinery is used to dig the pool to its exact dimensions.

• Ground Shaping: The excavated area is shaped to include steps, ledges, and trenches for plumbing and electrical systems.

3. Steel Reinforcement Installation

• Rebar Framework: Steel rebar is bent and tied to create a reinforced skeleton that outlines the pool’s final shape. This framework provides essential structural support for the concrete shell.

4. Plumbing & Electrical Installation

• Plumbing: Pipes are installed for water circulation, filtration, drainage, and any custom water features.

• Electrical: Conduits and wiring are laid for lighting, automation, pumps, and other electrical components.

5. Gunite Application

• Gunite Spraying: A high-pressure hose is used to spray a mixture of cement, sand, and water (gunite) over the rebar framework.

• Shaping & Smoothing: While the gunite is still wet, it is manually shaped and smoothed to match the pool’s contours, including steps and ledges.

• Curing: The gunite must cure over a period of 7–14 days. During this time, it is kept moist to ensure proper hardening and to prevent cracking.

6. Tile & Coping Installation

• Tile Placement: Waterline and decorative tiles are installed to provide both aesthetic appeal and functional protection against staining and water damage at the pool’s edge.

• Coping Installation: A finished cap—usually stone, brick, or concrete—is installed around the pool’s edge to define the perimeter and provide a finished look.

7. Decking

• Backfilling & Base Prep: Soil is backfilled into trenches, and a compacted road base is laid as a foundation for decking.

• Forming & Rebar Installation: Rebar and forms are set to define the deck’s shape around the pool perimeter.

• Concrete Placement: Concrete is poured and finished around the pool to create the deck surface.

8. Equipment Installation

• Energy-Efficient Equipment Setup: State-of-the-art systems are installed, including:

  • Variable-speed circulation pump

  • Pool sweep pump

  • High-capacity cartridge filter

  • LED color-changing pool lights

  • Saltwater chlorination controls

  • Pool heater

  • Electrical panel and automation systems

9. Interior Finish

• Surface Application: The interior surface of the pool is finished with materials such as plaster, luna quartz, or pebble. These materials provide a smooth, water-resistant coating that enhances both comfort and appearance.

10. Start-Up & Final Inspection

• Start-Up Process: Once the pool is filled, water chemistry is balanced, equipment is activated, and the curing process for the interior finish begins. The pool is typically ready for swimming after approximately three weeks.

• Final Inspection: A final inspection is conducted by the local city or county authority to ensure all construction complies with building and safety codes.
